The Return of 'The Reporter'
Posted by Yel Cobile, IT Admin & Correspondent on September 14, 2011, 9:37 pm

Jani Arnaiz, The Reporter Chief Editor

After a while of being down for some time on the Internet, the domain, www.thereporteronline.com.ph, now bearing the new domain name of www.maasinreporter.com is back in business.  Its re-emergence allowed more offerings of news and information and making its website stand with an ‘international flair’.  Again, Maasinhons and Southern Leyteños from all over the world will be abreast of what’s going on back in their respective hometowns, partially relieving them of the pangs of homesickness and occasional longings of coming back home for a visit or two.  (Such is the life of OFWs.)

As a local media outlet that started during the days when Maasin was still a sleepy little town, The Reporter will always be the legacy of Gus Arnaiz and his family.  With Jani Arnaiz’ commitment and ample backing from its sponsors and supporters, it will continue to implement its intended purpose – and that is to provide fair, fearless and independent journalism.

As aforementioned, The Reporter offers more amenities for readership as well as resources.  Its website is hosted by its sponsor, Webionic.com, whose servers are co-located in server facilities in Virginia, Florida and New York.  Almost all of its articles allow readers to send comments, however, under a more monitored environment to instill proper netiquette of users as well as maintain security against unauthorized intrusions or incursions.  News articles have now expanded over a wider coverage of local, national and international issues to entice the interest of all ages across the board.

This new version of The Reporter is planned to be aesthetically and functionally dynamic.  Its online statistics will be evaluated periodically to allow addition if not elimination of functionalities.

The Reporter's management, for an indefinite period, plans to use the domain, www.maasinreporter.com vice its original domain www.thereporteronline.com.ph.  For security reasons, postings of news and information of The Reporter's journalists will be by its Editor, Technical Administrator, and/or Associate Editor.  The possibility of allowing associate journalists to directly post respective articles online (with or without prior approval) may be entertained in the future depending on administrative workloads.

In the meantime, behold The Reporter’s return!  It’s back with a much better flair for everyone to enjoy.

(As a side note, Webionic.com offers this site's new aesthetics, functionality and hosting as a belated birthday memento to the late Inko Dadoy a.k.a. 'Gus' Arnaiz..)
